Koawa Studios

Kōawa Studios is a film production campus where crews, clients and vendors arrive in numbers and on deadline. Findable designed, made and installed the wayfinding that gets them to the right stage, office or backlot gate first time.

Challenge

Productions turn over constantly, and every new crew arrives cold. Stages, workshops and the backlot spread across a large site with look-alike buildings and few natural landmarks.

The system needed to be instantly legible to people who had never been on site, and robust enough to live outdoors alongside trucks, rigging and set builds.

Designed, made and installed by Findable

Findable carried the campus from mapping to installation as one team, so the system on the ground matches the system on the drawings.

Our Approach

We mapped how a production actually loads in - trucks first, crew second, clients last - and built the sign hierarchy around those three journeys.

Stage identification leads the system, scaled to be read across the lot, with directional and gate signage carrying the same naming logic down to each door.

The System

The installed system covers the full campus:

  • Campus entry and check-in signage
  • Stage and workshop identification
  • Directional signs across lot and backlot
  • Gate, dock and parking identification
Outcome

New crews orient themselves on day one, and clients find their way from parking to the right stage without an escort.

Because one team designed, made and installed every sign, the campus reads as a single system - and new stages can join it without breaking the logic.
