Maersk Hamilton
Maersk's Hamilton campus moves trucks, containers and people through the same site every day. Findable designed, made and installed a wayfinding system that routes drivers and visitors safely between the gatehouse, the docks and the offices.
Challenge
Heavy vehicles and pedestrians shared decision points, and drivers arriving for the first time had to stop and ask at the gate. Signage had grown ad hoc as the site expanded, with no consistent naming or hierarchy.
The system had to be legible from a moving cab, hold up to weather and washdowns, and keep foot traffic clearly separated from vehicle routes.
Designed, made and installed by Findable
One team took the campus from site survey to installed system - mapping, design, fabrication and installation without a handover in between.
Our Approach
We started at the gatehouse and followed every vehicle and pedestrian journey across the site, logging where drivers slowed, stopped or turned around.
That gave us a naming and numbering logic for the whole campus, carried through gantry, post and building-mounted signs sized for reading at speed and at distance.
The System
The installed system keeps every journey on its intended route:
- Gatehouse arrival and check-in signage
- Vehicle routes to docks and loading zones
- Pedestrian routes and safety separation
- Building and office identification
Outcome
Drivers now route themselves from the gate to the correct dock, and visitors reach the offices without crossing operational areas. Site staff spend less time redirecting traffic.
Fabricated for industrial conditions and installed by the same team that designed it, the system is built to be added to as the campus grows.
